We are hiring for a Cloud Governance Architect to develop solutions and governance oversight around Amazon, Azure, and SQL!
STAND 8 provides end to end IT solutions to enterprise partners across the United States and with offices in LA, Calabasas, Atlanta, New York, Raleigh, and more.

JOB DESCRIPTION
You will design and build scalable and secure architecture ensuring compliance across technology domains to launch products and services.
  • This person will talk to clients / and development teams. They must have excellent communication and be able to articulate best practices, and be able to articulate things that they've built before in terms of repeatable usable patterns. When the business discusses a project, with an existing system or something that is fresh off the ground, the Cloud Architect will be translate the business terminology into requirements, and work with the Cloud Platform Engineering Team to work and create a solution.
  • There will also be a Cloud Architect Review Board, that will be used for any new systems or solutions. 
  • Have deep tech knowledge and keeping up with new AWS services, and be able to put together new prototypes and prototype new services.
  • Be eloquent and succinct and be able to present to different levels from executives, to mid-managers, to business analysts, and application development technical teams.
  • The Cloud Architect will work closely with the Cloud Financial Manager. When there's a solution on the table to change an existing system, the Cloud Architect will be able to talk to that, and the Cloud Financial Manager will be able to speak to the cost / efficiency of the application vs. the cost.
  • The focus of this job will be more on Infrastructure, Operations, and the DevOps side - they are driving all the cloud adoptions through the business.
  • Experience with GitLab, or good experience with a source repository. Will have experience with CI/CD pipelines, libraries, etc. E.g. (https://docs.stackery.io/docs/using-stackery/introduction/)
  • They are a Microsoft (OS, Database) and open source (PostgreSQL, some MySQL, NodeJS, Angular, Ruby) environment.
  • Linux, RedHat and Amazon Linux.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of Cloud Architecture experience (preference for AWS experience)
  • Desirable Certifications: Certified Solutions Architect – Professional and/or Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
  • Deep hands-on experience leading the design, development, and deployment of business software at scale or hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience
  • Proven experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required
  • Experience coding in a higher-level programming language such as, Python, Ruby, JSON, etc. (3+ years)
  • Experience with database technology and architecture such as MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.
  • Drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, costs, project management, and risk mitigation
  • Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (eg. security, privacy, SOX, etc.)
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience designing available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on AWS
  • Design of native Cloud applications, Cloud application design patterns, and practices
  • A proven track record of managing and delivering large-scale enterprise IT projects
  • Familiarity with industry compliance and security standards including PCI DSS, SOC-1&2 and ISO 27001
  • Experience managing data center operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the design and development of cloud infrastructure and cloud services
  • Establish architectural standards that enable DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code, and automated continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
  • Participate in early life deployments
  • Synchronize regularly with Cloud Platform Engineering team
  • Translate organizational level business requirements and use cases into infrastructure capabilities verified to meet the requirements
  • Design solution-independent architecture models that map business services to cloud application stacks
  • Providing standardized offerings to facilitate the successful secure access to stacks and the cloud environment overall
  • Identity and Access Management, Identity Federation / SSO
  • SEIM and Audit Logging (CloudTrail & Config)
  • Continuously manage, monitor, and update architecture models as business needs evolve and additional cloud services become available
  • Participate in optimizing solution architectures to manage costs and identify cost control mechanisms
  • Assist application solution architects design scalable, highly available, secure application solutions that leverage cloud services
  • Utilize cost/benefit models with mapping architecture to business outcomes and KPIs
  • Coordinate with Product Managers to incorporate the voice of the customer
  • Maintain technical vendor relationship
  • Participate in business case development and validation (for enterprise-level business cloud products/projects)
  • Curate cloud reference architectures
