DESCRIPTION
The Senior DevOps Engineer will work on building out self-service automation and tooling for development and operations teams to quickly build and deploy cloud-based applications and services with all the associated infrastructure and dependencies, in a secure, repeatable and auditable manner. They will also be responsible for working on various projects and business as usual requests such as; daily support requests, scheduled production deployments and occasionally emergency change requests.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work directly with architects, project managers and development teams to gather requirements for project requests and take them from proof-of-concept all the way to production
  • Bridge the gap between development and operations by developing self-service automated solutions and tooling
  • Develop and support trunk-based digital delivery pipelines for applications and services with gated QA automated testing and security scanning
  • Develop and support trunk-based infrastructure-as-code pipelines
  • Support development and operations teams by leveraging monitoring and logging tools to trace, identify and troubleshoot issues as they arise
  • Be available to participate in on-call rotation of production deployments and emergency change requests during off-business hours
  • Participate in various meetings with architects, development teams, QA teams and operations teams and take detailed notes
  • Train and mentor others within your team, developers and operations teams, on how to use automation that has been developed
  • Document as needed runbooks, how-to’s and contribute to the team’s knowledge base
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong hands-on experience with public cloud technologies in AWS and services such as; CloudWatch, CloudFormation, CloudDeploy, EC2, Autoscaling, EBS, S3, Route53, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, Sagemaker, IAM, SQS, SNS, Lex, Kinesis, ECS, ECR, CloudFront and VPC
  • Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Stacker, Troposphere, CloudFormation or equivalent experience with Terraform
  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows Servers, MS SQL Servers, and ideally Linux Servers
  • Strong experience with pipeline-as-code (YAML) and templates using continuous integration and continuous delivery tools such as Azure DevOps and GitLab
  • Solid understanding of git and various branching strategies especially trunk-based
  • Solid experience with the PowerShell CLI and scripting building out modules, API wrappers and other CLI tooling
  • Experience in various build tools and IDEs such as; Maven, MSBuild, Dotnet Build Tools, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Eclipse and PyCharm
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as New Relic for application performance monitoring and tracing as well as infrastructure resource utilization
  • Experience with Configuration Management such as Chef, DSC, Puppet or Ansible
  • Experience working with digital delivery of mobile iOS/Android applications; building, signing, and deployment to public stores and tools such as fastlane and xcode on macOS and Gradle for Android
  • Experience working with pipeline security scanning tools such as Sonarqube for static code analysis, 3rd party OSS dependency scanning, and built-artifact scanning
  • Experience with Jira and Service Now to track project tasks, work requests, incidents and change requests
  • Experience with documentation tools such Confluence and Google Docs
  • Knowledge of containerization technology like Docker, Kubernetes a plus
  • Knowledge of QA automation services like SauceLabs and Blazemeter and testing frameworks such as Selenium, JMeter a plus
  • Must be a team player with strong attention to detail and able to work independently
  • Proven track record at delivering timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environment
  • Financial Services and, if possible, mortgage industry experience preferred
  • Strong business acumen and ability to interface with executive management
